Thailand has opened its borders to selected groups of foreign nationals from July 1st. There are different rules applied to arrivals from the various categories in regards to quarantining after entering the country.
Below, we have listed the quarantine rules for various groups who are now allowed to travel to Thailand.
It is essential that anyone wishing to enter Thailand first contacts their local Royal Thai Embassy or consulate to arrange for permission to enter the country and clarify the latest rules regarding quarantine on arrival.
Group 1 – Thai Nationals
Thai nationals returning to Thailand on repatriation flights or via land border crossings must enter either a state quarantine, local quarantine, or alternative local quarantine facility for 14 days.
Group 2 – Persons with Exemption
Persons with an exemption, including those who travel under any future “travel bubbles” agreement and short-term business visitors, are not required to undergo quarantine. Instead, they are placed under the “close observation” category, which may include tracking or registering via an application. Details for this group of people are being finalized.
Group 3 – Carriers of Necessary Goods
Carriers of necessary goods are not required to undergo quarantine or close observation. However, once the goods are delivered, they must return to their original destination immediately.
Group 4 – Crew Members
Crew members, including airline staff, must undergo quarantine in an alternative state quarantine facility for 14 days.
Groups 5, 6 & 7 – Foreigners Married to Thai Nationals, Foreigners Holding Valid Certificates of Residence & Foreigners Holding Valid Work Permits
Any spouse of a Thai national, certificate of residence holder, and valid work permit holder returning to the country must arrange an alternative state quarantine facility and remain there for 14 days after arrival.
Group 8 – Foreigners Seeking Medical Treatment in Thailand
Any foreigner arriving in Thailand for medical treatment must undergo a 14-day quarantine at their chosen hospital or at an alternative hospital quarantine facility.
Group 9 – Foreigners Studying in Approved Institutions
Foreigners returning or arriving in Thailand to study at an institution approved by the Thai authorities must under quarantine at an organizational quarantine facility provided by their institution or an alternative quarantine facility for 14 days.
Group 10 – Foreigners Permitted Access to Thailand Under Special Conditions
Foreign nationals who are invited to Thailand by the government or to attend special ceremonies will either need to undergo 14 days quarantine at an alternative state quarantine facility or remain under close observation.
