
Officials seized a massive haul of methamphetamine pills and heroin in the Fang district of Chiang Mai on Monday night reported Pha Muang Force Deputy Commander, Col Narit Thavornwong, at a press conference.
A combined force of soldiers from the 4th Cavalry Regiment and police officers from the 3rd Division of the Narcotic Suppression Bureau made the discovery when pulling over two vehicles on Highway 1249.
The vehicles, a white Toyota pickup truck, and a Honda car were signaled to pull over by the officials at around 8 pm on Monday evening.
When searched, a considerable amount of drugs were discovered in both vehicles, including around 800,000 methamphetamine pills and 10 kilograms of heroin.
Eight suspects were arrested at the scene while two more suspects managed to flee the scene and escape.
The drugs were handed over to Fang police, along with the arrested suspects. They will be detained while an investigation takes place.
