A warning has been issued by Thailand’s Department of Disease Control after reports of a woman testing positive for coronavirus through the use of her shopping bag.
The Director of the department, Dr. Sophon Iamsirithaworn, has emphasized the importance of washing hands thoroughly after handling items or coming back home from being outside.
The woman had been in self-quarantine, staying mostly inside her home for three weeks. She tested positive for covid-19 after using her canvas shopping bags to purchase groceries.
Referencing the incident, Dr. Iamsirithaworn told reporters:
“Therefore, we recommend that all citizens wash their hands regularly after handling items. Most importantly, make it a habit all the time.”
He also mentioned the treatment process for infected patients, adding that doctors will provide ongoing treatment for people who have recovered from the virus.
After recovery, patients are monitored for 14 days to ensure they will not spread the virus after being discharged from the hospital. He also mentioned the use of face masks, saying:
“Also, they must wear a face mask for one month to gain confidence among people.”
