Pattaya hospitals are now free of coronavirus patients after the final infected persons were declared as recovered and released from hospitals on May 5th.
The popular seaside city had been under strict regulations over the past few weeks, entering a total lockdown with checkpoints screening everyone coming in and out of the city area.
Those measures proved effective as Pattaya has not officially announced any new covid-19 cases in the past three weeks.
The release of the last patients from the hospital now means the city is classified as “virus-free,” however the Deputy Mayor, Manote Nongyai, warned that residents must continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing measures.
He asked people to continue wearing face masks in public and to wash their hands regularly.
Meanwhile, eight beaches in Chonburi have been closed off until the end of May. The beaches listed are:
- Pattaya Beach
- Jomtien Beach
- Phra Thamnak Beach
- Cosy beach
- Wong Amat Beach
- Krathing Rai Beach
- Lan Phor Na Kluea Public Park Beach
- Bali Hai Pier Beach
These areas are being closely monitored for people gathering in groups, drinking, relaxing, chilling, or sitting.
However, the pathways along the beaches will be open for people to exercise with social distancing of at least one meter required for walkers, joggers, and runners.
