Thai banks to remain open for now

The Bank of Thailand and other financial institutions have announced that they will keep as many branches open as possible throughout the Coronavirus (Covid-19) emergency decree.

Businesses around Thailand will be happy to hear the news as they can still access some branches to conduct essential transactions. The BoT, Thai Banker’s Association, have guaranteed customers access to important services such as depositing, withdrawing, transfers, payments, and loans.

The announcement included a range of criteria, stating that banks would open as often as possible. However, they are implementing rules within the branches stating that customers must be spaced at least 1.5 meters apart.

ATM machines will continue to operate as normal with 24-hour services. However, ATM users should proceed with caution when using the machines and practice good hygiene including the use of gloves, alcohol gel, and handwashing immediately after using any ATM.

Finally, the banks also issued a warning regarding fraudulent phone calls or text messages seeking personal information and financial details. Please note that a bank will never call you first and request such information.
