Just hours after announcing that Nonthaburi would ease covid-19 restrictions by allowing certain businesses to reopen, the Governor has performed a rapid u-turn.
Nonthaburi Governor, Sujin Chaichumsak, had previously announced that some categories of businesses and services could resume operation from tomorrow, April 15th.
However, just hours after he made the announcement, he reversed his decision and ordered all businesses and shops that are currently not in operation to remain closed.
The decision will come as a blow to local business owners who would have been hoping they could try and get back to some resemblance of normality and begin generating income again.
It is predicted that as many as 10 million people are at risk of losing their jobs if the Thai Government doesn’t step in to help SMEs.
The Governor has also extended the ban of alcohol in the province for an additional 10 days, until April 30th.
