Two separate suicides happened this morning within minutes of each other in Bangkok. One at an MRT station and one at a condo complex.
The first suicide happened at 8.30 am in a condominium complex in eastern Bangkok and is believed to be related to stress caused by the coronavirus situation.
The body of a man between 40 and 45 years old was discovered on the sixth story of a condo building in the Ramkhamhaeng district. Police stated they believed the man jumped from his condo on the 31st floor.
The nationality of the man has not been revealed and police are still monitoring footage to discover exactly what happened.
The second suicide occurred just half an hour later at Tha Phra MRT Station in the Bangkok Yai district.
Police discovered the body of a 43-year-old woman at the scene laying in a pool of blood with traumatic head injuries. Her personal belongings were all intact.
Witnesses told the police that the woman was acting strangely before jumping from the edge of the elevated station.
Her sister informed the police that she had been suffering from depression since her father passed away two years ago.
Suicides have become increasingly common over recent weeks, partly due to stress from the coronavirus pandemic, including three cousins who leapt of a bridge in a suicide pact a couple of weeks ago in Bangkok.
