The Phuket Governor has announced a ban on selling alcohol across the island, effective immediately until further notice.
The order was published on the Facebook page of the Phuket Office for Public Relations Department late on Friday night with the ban taking effect from Saturday, April 11th.
The popular tourist island has also imposed some of the strictest lockdown measures with all sub-districts going into complete lockdown from Monday, April 13th for two weeks.
The order banning alcohol includes wholesalers who may not sell any form of alcoholic beverages while the ban is in place.
Anyone who violates the order is liable to face a fine of up to 100,000 baht or a year in prison.
