Hopes of the strict lockdown measures in Phuket being lifted by the target date of April 30th are becoming more realistic as the province announced no new coronavirus cases for the third day in a row.
There has been a total of 192 confirmed cases in the province with 127 of those either recovered or discharged from the hospital. A further 64 are still undergoing treatment.
Of the people who are still in hospital and undergoing treatment for covid-19, it is reported that three are in a serious condition and being closely monitored.
However, officials in the southern province are still conducting tests among people who are considered “high-risk” and insist that people continue practicing social distancing and other measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
There have been no new cases reported in Phuket since the province underwent a sudden change of governor last week.
While official figures state that no new cases have been recorded, it is very likely that there are multiple covid-19 cases that aren’t being included in the official numbers due to a lack of testing across Thailand.
