There were no new coronavirus infections reported in Phuket today as the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration announced 29 new cases nationwide.
The news from Phuket will come as a relief to the many residents on the island who are currently under one of the most severe lockdowns in the country.
Up until yesterday, the island has reported 191 cases of coronavirus. Of those cases, 85 have now recovered and 115 are still undergoing treatment.
The island is undergoing governmental change at the moment as the governor, Phakoapong Tavipatana was unexpectedly transferred to Phetchaburi and replaced by the Chaiyaphum Governor.
Meanwhile, the total number of virus cases is 2,672. Of the 29 new cases, the majority were linked to previous cases or remain under investigation.
There were also three new deaths announced today, taking the total to 46. The deaths included a 55-year-old Malaysian man who got infected in Georgia before returning to Thailand.
The other two deaths were a 35-year-old female office employee with existing medical conditions and a 37-year-old male excavator driver.
There were a total of 96 recoveries announced also, taking the total to 1,593.
