
A new 103 cases of covid-19 were reported in Thailand today along with another four deaths, bringing the total number of cases to 1,978 and the total deaths to 19.
As a nationwide curfew comes into effect, with the possibility of becoming a 24-hour curfew, Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration said that the virus had spread quickly among people between the ages of 20 and 29.
The reason for the rapid spreading of the virus among this age group is due to them traveling more often and attending meetings.
Of the 103 new coronavirus cases, 39 were in close contact with known infected persons, 13 people worked in crowded areas, eight were foreign visitors, seven recently returned from abroad, and the remaining people caught the virus in various other ways.
The four new deaths include a 59-year-old male employee of State Railway Thailand (SRT), a 72-year-old Thai man, an two 84-year-old Thai men, all of whom had pre-existing conditions.
Of the 1,978 cases of coronavirus in Thailand, 1,049 are reported to be in Bangkok.
