A large drug operation focusing mainly on marijuana and magic mushrooms has been raided by police in four separate locations announced the Thai Metro Police.
The gang had been selling drugs on Line chat under the group “Heaven Herb” which was set up by the user @heavenherb. The group had 6,000 members according to the Bangkok Police Chief.
The operation began with a raid at a car repair shop on Ramkhamhaeng 24/3 in the Bangkapi district of Bangkok. Police from Thong Lor station arrested a man known as “Bank” during the raid.
They seized a large number of drugs including three kilograms of dried marijuana and one kilogram of magic mushrooms.
Next, police arrested a man called Diew at a car park in Pathum Thani province. He was in possession of 1.5 kilograms of dried marijuana at the time of the arrest.
The third raid happened at a house in the Sam Saen area of Phaya Thai district, Bangkok where a man named “Boss” was arrested with two kilograms of dried marijuana. Police also found seven marijuana plants at the house.
The final arrest happened in the Bang Pa-in district of Ayutthaya where a Chinese man, known as “Yinma”, was apprehended with one kilogram of dried marijuana.
Police also seized 317 marijuana plants from a commercial building in the Bang Kapi district of Bangkok.
The police had used the Line group to locate Bank at the car shop in Bang Kapi before extending the investigation to find the other suspects.
It is believed that the Chinese national, Yinma, was growing the plants and distributing them to the others for selling to customers from the Line group.
All suspects were charged with possession of drugs with the intent to sell, while Yinma was also charged with growing the marijuana plants.
