There have been 45 new cases of coronavirus in Thailand today according to the announcement made by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
This represents a decrease of yesterday’s 50 cases while taking the total number of infections up to 2,518.
Taweesin Visanuyothin, a spokesperson for the CCSA, said that the “number of new infections is not alarming, but we have seen a lower figure of 38 cases.”
Of the 45 new cases, most were from people who had been in contact with a known covid-19 patient across Bangkok, Pattani, and Phuket. There were also nine people in state quarantine that tested positive for the virus.
Thailand has started repatriating some of its citizens who are stranded abroad, with strict quarantine procedures in places for all returnees.
There were also two new deaths reported in today’s figures taking the total number of fatalities up to 35.
The first death was a 36-year-old Thai man who suffered from obesity. The second was a 65-year-old Thai man who had been on a ventilator since March 28th.
There has been a total of 1,135 recoveries so far.
