The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration today announced 15 new cases and no new deaths as the official figures remain low.
Dr. Taweeslip Visanuyothin, spokesperson for the Center said that the continued low numbers are due to people cooperating with the restrictions in place over the past two weeks.
Today’s 15 cases, an increase of two from yesterday, are broken down into nine people who came into contact with previously known infected patients, four detected by preemptive testing in Yala province, one recent returnee to Thailand, and one person who visited a crowded area.
There were four new cases in Bangkok and Phuket, with one of the new cases in Phuket being a 2-year-old boy who was in close contact with three previously confirmed covid-19 cases.
The accumulated total number of cases now stands at 2,854 across 68 provinces. However, there has been a total of 2,490 recoveries with an additional 60 new recoveries over the past 24 hours.
The highest number of covid-19 cases have been in Bangkok with 1,457, followed by 200 in Phuket, 152 in Nonthaburi, 111 in Samut Prakan, 99 in Yala, 86 in Chonburi, 79 in Pattani, 44 in Songkhla, 40 in Chiang Mai, and 27 in Pathum Thani.
Dr. Taweesilp praised the efforts of medical staff who have helped the number of recoveries almost reach 2,500, saying:
“Only 314 patients remain at hospitals thanks to the work of all medical personnel. Now we see pictures of patients being discharged from hospitals and welcomed by happy relatives.”
