
Confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide have passed more than one million according to the latest figures.
As of this morning, Friday, April 3rd, there is a total of 1,014,296 cases of covid-19 across the globe. This figure includes 749,296 known currently infected patients.
There has been a total of 52,982 deaths and 212,018 confirmed recoveries.
The figures have increased significantly over the past 3 weeks, passing 250,000 confirmed cases on March 20th and 500,000 confirmed cases just over a week ago.
The United States, whose citizens have been told to stay at home, have almost one in five total cases with 244,230 infections according to the latest figures. The country has recorded 5,886 deaths.
Italy is the second-worst hit country with 115,242 cases of the virus, with Spain recording 112,065 cases. Spain, however, has recorded the highest number of deaths with 10,348.
China, where the virus originated, has recorded 81,589 cases and 3,318 deaths.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s latest figures show a total of 1,875 cases and 15 deaths, leading Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to declare a nationwide curfew starting today.
