A survey by YouGov in the United Kingdom discovered some startling misconceptions about the coronavirus among the general public.
The survey provided people with a list of advice relating to covid-19 and asked which advice they believed to be true.
An incredible 32% of people surveyed believed that vodka can be used as a hand sanitizer with a further 17% unsure.
Other shocking results from the survey include 21% of British people believing that the coronavirus originated in a laboratory in China and 16% believing that spraying alcohol or chlorine on skin kills the virus in the body.
3% of Britons think that washing your hands frequently doesn’t stop the spread of the virus while 5% think that keeping at least two meters from other people is pointless.

The idea of vodka being a solution to the coronavirus epidemic was also mentioned by the Belarussian president, Alexander Lukashenko, who suggested citizens should “drink 50ml of vodka every day to keep the virus at bay“.
