Police in the southern province of Satun has arrested and charged two tourists after complaints of loud music at a budget hotel led to the discovery of overstay visas and drugs.
The incident occurred at Babara Budget Hotel where an employee notified police that there were loud music and noises coming from two separate rooms.
The employee offered guest information to the police where it was discovered both males – one from Italy and one from the Netherlands – had overstayed their visas after arriving in Thailand on February 13th.
The pair were not covered by the visa amnesty as they had not renewed or extended their tourist visas since arrival and the agreement only covers those who have arrived or extended visas on or after March 29th.
Officials arrived at the first room to discover the Italian man having a drug party with two Thai women. After searching the room, officials discovered cocaine hidden in four separate places throughout the room.
Police then proceeded to another room where they found the Dutch man smoking marijuana and damage to the property.
Both men were arrested and brought to La Knu Police Station where they will be charged with overstaying their visas and possession of drugs.
