A tour bus crashed into a ditch off Phetkasem highway in the Bang Saphan district of Prachuap Khiri Khan on Monday night, slightly injuring five of the passengers on board and taking down two power poles.
The incident happened at approximately 11.10 pm on Monday, close to the 383-kilometer marker near the Bang Saphan intersection in tambon Rom Thong.
The bus driver, a 68-year-old Thai national, informed police that the bus had departed from Bangkok earlier that evening and was destined for Nakhon Si Thammarat in the south of Thailand.
There were 27 passengers and two crew onboard the bus, according to the driver, Preecha Chansingkhon.
As the bus was nearing the Bang Saphan intersection, a bicycle cut in front of the vehicle, causing the driver to swerve.
As the bus swerved, it crashed into a ditch at the side of the highway and toppled over onto its side.
Five of the passengers onboard received minor injuries and were taken to the nearby Bang Saphan Hospital.
The estimated damage caused by the accident is 200,000 baht.
