Police have caught and arrested a wanted British national who fled after throwing his wife off of a balcony last month in Rayong.
The incident occurred on April 28th when a Thai woman had fallen off of a balcony at Ban Chang Cliff Beach Condotel. Although in a state of semi-consciousness at the time, she told medics that her husband had thrown her off the balcony.
Police spent two hours trying to gain access to the condo while the woman’s husband, British national David John Marshall, remained on the balcony in a trancelike state.
Eventually, police accessed the condo and brought the man to the station where he was processed and the allowed to leave while an investigation took place.
However, after leaving the police station, Mr. Marshall fled to Bangkok and has been on the run since, jumping from hotel to hotel across the capital city.
Police eventually caught up with him at Baron Residence Hotel on Soi Lat Phrao 130 using a biometric scanning system and arrested him.
His wife had told police that she had been detained against her will in the condominium room for several days before she was pushed off the balcony.
Upon arrest, Mr. Marshall confessed to the crime and told officials that he assaulted his wife because she was threatening to leave him and had put all of their assets under her name.
Mr. Marshall will be charged at Rayong Court for attempted murder and holding his wife against her will.
