There were 11 new coronavirus cases reported by the Thai Government today, all of which came from Thai citizens who have recently returned to the country from overseas. No new deaths were reported.
The new cases are broken down as follows:
One case is a 32-year-old Thai woman who recently returned from India and was placed in state quarantine in Samut Prakan. She showed no symptoms of the virus but tested positive on Monday.
Six cases were from a group of Thais who had recently returned from Qatar. They were all aged between 27 and 52 with five of them working as masseurs and the other as a maid. Three had symptoms associated with covid-19, while the other three were asymptomatic.
Four cases had recently returned to Thailand from Kuwait. They were all male construction workers between the ages of 39 and 51 and showed symptoms associated with the virus.
The groups of six and four had been in state quarantine in Bangkok.
Despite the increase in new cases, the spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, emphasized that there were no new local cases. He said:
“We can say that there are no new locally infected cases now as far as official reports are concerned. All the new cases reported daily were infected in other countries.”
An additional 14 people have been released from hospitals taking the total number of recoveries up to 2,945 or 96 percent of virus patients.
