The Thai Government’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration has officially announced only one new coronavirus case today and no new deaths.
The figures represent a steep decrease from yesterday’s total of 18 cases which were all found in a detention center in Songkhla and included a 10-year-old child.
The single case was found in a Thai man from Narathiwat.
The saga of 40 cases that were found from active testing in Yala province is continuing as all 40 covid-19 cases have now been declared as a “false positive.”
The Thai Government informed the public that the results were inaccurate due to contamination of the equipment at the lab in Yala. However, the samples will now be tested for a third time at the Department of Medical Sciences.
The government has insisted there is no cover-up regarding those cases.
Today’s cases bring the total number of covid-19 infections in Thailand up to 2,988 while the total number of deaths remains at 54.
A total of 2,747 people have been declared as recovered from the virus.
