United States President, Donald Trump, has warned Americans to brace for a “very, very painful two weeks” as coronavirus cases continue to accelerate across the country.
The president asked citizens to stay at home as much as possible until April 30th and said that as many as “100,000 or 240,000 people could die” from covid-19 in America.
The figures look grim for the US, as it now has 1 in 5 coronavirus cases globally, easily topping the confirmed cases data charts ahead of Italy, Spain, and China.
The president said:
“I want every American to be prepared for the hard days that lie ahead. We’re going to go through a very tough two weeks. This is going to be a very painful, very, very painful two weeks.”
The coronavirus death toll in the United States has now climbed past 3,800, surpassing the official count from China.
