A cat in Belgium has caught covid-19 from its infected owner, according to health officials in the European country.
The pet feline began displaying symptoms such as breathing difficulty a week after its owner tested positive for coronavirus.
It has become the first cat in the world to have confirmed infection with the virus discovered from the cat’s feces.
The cat joins two dogs who tested positive for the pandemic disease in Hong Kong.
While the virus can transmit from humans to animals, the World Health Organisation insists that the opposite is not possible and pets cannot transmit the virus to humans.
