A woman gave birth at a covid-19 checkpoint in the Muang district of Chai Nat province in the early hours of this morning after she couldn’t hold on any longer.
The event occurred at around 6 am this morning when the woman was on her way to the hospital after going into labor. She was being driven to Chai Nat Narenthorn Hospital by her relatives when they reached a covid-19 checkpoint.
As the vehicle was stopped by police at the checkpoint, the woman said that she couldn’t hold on any longer and that the baby was on the way.
Officials quickly moved the woman out of the car and the nurses working at the checkpoint, usually charged with taking covid-19 or alcohol blood level samples, took on the roles of midwives.
The baby was delivered at the side of the road and is said to be strong and healthy.
After the baby boy and mother had recovered from the drama they were taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
