Immigration officials have announced the arrest of a Cameroonian man in Phuket who was discovered to have overstayed his visa by two years.
Col Arud Sangjun, Deputy Commander of Immigration Division Region 6, explained that the arrest was part of an ongoing campaign to crack down on those who overstay their visas or break other immigration regulations.
In this case, the suspect was investigated after it had been discovered that he was working as a football coach for an academy in Phuket.
The discovery was made on Facebook, where he was identified on the football academy’s business page.
Upon investigation, Immigration police discovered that Cameroonian national, Jack Lepoui Ntsando, lived and worked illegally in Phuket for more than two years.
Officials arrested the man at the football academy where he worked and took him to Wichit Police Station. He faces charges of working without a permit and overstaying his visa in Thailand.
