There were 17 new coronavirus cases announced by the Thai Government today – the highest figure in weeks. No new deaths were announced.
However, none of the reported cases were from local infections and were all discovered in repatriated Thai citizens who have recently returned from three Middle Eastern countries.
Of the 17 cases, 13 were from recent returnees from Kuwait, and two each had recently come back to Thailand from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The new cases from Kuwait mean that 17.24 percent of the total number of people who have come back from there have tested positive for covid-19. 15.19 percent of returnees from Saudi Arabia have the infection, while 14.41 percent of returnees from Pakistan have also tested positive.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Thailand is now at 3,101 with 58 deaths.
No further patients were discharged from hospitals today leaving the recovery total at 2,968 while 75 patients are still receiving treatment.
Three more repatriation flights are due to land in Thailand today. Two are coming from India carrying a total of 438 people while the other will arrive from the United States via South Korea carrying 225 passengers.
