A man in Songkhla has been arrested following admission to killing his son and burying the body in a forest of the Na Mon district.
Songkhla Police Chief, Pol Maj Gen Thiewtawat Nakhonsri, identified the accused as Aroon Plodkaenthong, aged 41. He was arrested on Saturday and brought to the Na Mon district for questioning where he admitted to the crime.
According to police, the body of an unidentified man was discovered in the forest. The body had been awkwardly stuffed into a sack and partially buried.
After discovering the body, police managed to identify it as Chanchai Plodkaenthong, the 21-year-old son of Aroon.
During the investigation, police learned that Aroon had divorced Chanchai’s mother more than 20 years ago and remarried. He lived in a house with his new wife, their son, Chanchai, Chanchai’s wife, and their son.
Chanchai’s wife, Ms. Kung, informed the police that she had an affair with her father-in-law, Arron, and suspected that the father and son argued about the affair when they went to the forest together on April 30th.
She said that Aroon came back from the forest without his son and did not say where he was. When Chanchai’s body was discovered by police on May 22nd, Ms. Kung said she suspected Aroon had killed his son.
Upon questioning, Aroon admitted he had killed his son, but did not say it was because of the affair. He claimed his son was addicted to drugs and had tried to kill him many times.
Police have charged Aroon with premeditated murder and are continuing the investigation.
