A university lecturer in Korat has been charged with the rape of two minors after his wife made an official complaint to the police regarding his behavior towards their two children.
The 47-year-old male lecturer was the subject of a complaint launched with Muang police on April 27th by his 37-year-old wife who works at the same university.
She accused her husband of sexually assaulting their two children – a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy – on many different occasions.
Police Chief, Pol Col Kritaya Laoprasopwattana, said that an initial charge of statutory rape of minors under the age of 13 had been made against the man who reported to the police station and denied the charges.
The Police Chief went on to say that the accused has not been held in custody as he is not considered a flight risk and that the investigation into the matter is continuing.
Police are awaiting results of physical examinations form the two children that were conducted at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.
The wife, who made the complaints, has asked police to prosecute her husband and requested protection while the case is ongoing.
