Following more than two months of closures, the Transport Company Limited has announced that it will resume inter-provincial bus routes to the south of Thailand from Tuesday, June 9th.
Buses had resumed routes to the north, northeast, and throughout central Thailand last month. However, southern bus routes had remained suspended until now.
The announcement also mentioned that some bus routes would operate during the night curfew hours to ensure that all parties onboard follow the regulations in place.
Regulations for using inter-provincial buses include wearing face masks at all times, not eating or drinking while onboard, and maintaining social distancing throughout the journey.
The resumption of southern routes will allow for more accessible travel between Bangkok and south destinations, including Phuket, Koh Samui, and Trang.
Public transport use continues to increase as the Department of Rail Transport announced a 100,000 person a day increase in passenger numbers last week.
The department has implemented strict measures to prevent the spread of covid-19, including random inspections on inter-provincial trains.
