
A bus heading to Bangkok from Khon Kaen crashed onto its side in the early hours of Friday morning after the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
The incident happened on the Mittaphap Highway near Korat province at approximated 2.30 am.
Police from Sung Noen was first to arrive on the scene and said the Charn Tour air-conditioned bus had 20 passengers on board when it left Khon Kaen bus terminal earlier that night.
The officials said that several passengers received minor injuries from the crash, but did not provide an exact number.
Pol Lt Kitisak Khomsa-ard, the officer on duty at the time of the crash, said he interviewed the driver who informed the officer he was tired and admitted to falling asleep at the wheel.

The name of the driver has not been released to the public.
This is the second incident of an inter-provincial bus crashing overnight this week.
Earlier in the week, a bus that had departed from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat crashed into a ditch along a highway in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
The driver had swerved to avoid a cyclist crossing the road resulting in five people receiving minor injuries.
