Hua Hin Hospital is in the final stages of preparation for opening a dedicated medical marijuana clinic on May 22nd according to Director, Dr. Niran Chantraku.
The clinic, which will open twice a month on alternate Fridays from 8.30 am until midday, will help patients suffering from conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, anxiety, spasms, and peripheral neuropathy.
In addition to prescribing cannabis, the clinic will also use traditional Thai medicines and modern techniques to help patients.
Dr. Niran Chantraku said that patients will first be treated with modern medicines. However, people who are not gaining any benefit from their prescriptions will be considered for traditional and/or marijuana treatments.
The clinic will employ specialist doctors who have studied Chinese medicines and analgesics.
Medical marijuana was made legal in Thailand last year following a landmark royal decree.
The Thai Government has set up a website to educate the public about the benefits of marijuana use and to answer commonly asked questions.
