A German man who worked as an English teacher in the Central Thai province of Prachinburi was discovered stabbed to death in his home by his ex-wife.
The 60-year-old was found on Wednesday morning lying face-up on his bed wearing only shorts and with a fatal stab wound in the chest just below his heart.
A small paring knife was also discovered near the body covered in blood and is assumed to be the murder weapon.
According to his ex-wife, he had recently received 40,000 baht from his mother in Germany and asked her to go with him to pick up the money.
She claimed they remained on good terms despite breaking up and that she visited him regularly at his home in Prachinburi.
The man’s neighbor across the road claimed that he had a 19-year-old daughter who was away with her husband at the time of the murder in Sukhothai Province and that he worked at Tambrit Mr. Paul Language Institute.
The deceased’s body has been taken to Chaophya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital for examination.
Police have contacted the German Embassy in Bangkok to notify the man’s family in Germany and are investing the case.
