A French man has been arrested for not wearing a face mask in the Patong area of Phuket following an order that everyone must wear face masks when outside in the province.
The man was arrested on Taweewong Road and taken to Patong police station where officers charged him for violating the order to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Phuket.
Violation of the order can result in a fine of up to 20,000 baht and will be strictly enforced across Phuket until further notice.
The news follows other incidents on the southern island including seven French tourists being arrested for hosting a Shisha party during curfew hours and a wave of growing anger from locals over foreigners disobeying orders to prevent the spread of covid-19.
