Bang Len Hospital in Nakhon Pathom has been shut down for 30 days following an outbreak of coronavirus on the premises.
The closure comes after as many as 24 medical personnel and patients came into contact with an infected covid-19 patient who failed to reveal she had been in contact with the virus.
The 56-year-old female patient had been in close contact with a confirmed case in Bangkok before entering Bang Len Hospital on Friday to complain of a cough.
During the initial screening, she failed to mention her friend in Bangkok who had tested positive for the virus.
It was only after the patient’s daughter offered information about the covid-19 contact that further tests were undertaken and it was discovered the 56-year-old had coronavirus.
22 medical staff from the facility had come into contact with the patient prior to the discovery of the virus. Two doctors, 13 nurses, and 7 other staff have been placed into isolation along with two patients who shared a room with the infected.
The hospital will now remain closed for 30 days.
