
Bangkok’s Police Chief, Pol Lt Gen Pakkapong, announced that as many as 27 police officers have tested positive for covid-19 on Monday.
The infected officers were categorized into two groups:
Group 1: Those who had recently returned from a work tour in Spain.
Group 2: Those who had visited two major sites of transmission – the boxing arena in Lumpinnee and the entertainment complex in Thong Lor.
In addition to the positive infections, a further 326 police officers are in quarantine pending results.
One of the infected officers is the Deputy Traffic Police Chief of Taling Chan district. It is not certain how he caught the virus, but Pol Lt Gen Pakkapong stated that he had not caught it from a screening point.
The number of coronavirus cases in Thailand rose by a further 136 today including two deaths.
