A loud party on Koh Phangan island was busted by the police, resulting in 18 tourists being arrested for violating the rules of the emergency decree.
The police raided a rental house on the island after complaints from a village head regarding loud music and noise coming from the property.
Upon arrival, police discovered 17 motorbikes in front of the house and heard music and shouting coming from inside.
Inside, the authorities discovered bottles of liquor, a sound system playing music, a computer notebook, and 18 tourists gathering together.
The tenant of the house, a Russian national, told police he had simply invited friends round for a chat and a drink.
However, due to the current social distancing rules and the ban on large gatherings, the officers escorted all 18 people to the police station to charge them with violating the ban.
Since the introduction of the nationwide curfew between 10 pm and 4 am, the police have made more than 7,000 arrests.
