An unnamed 46-year-old man has been arrested in Lampang province for allegedly raping his 9-year-old stepdaughter repeatedly since December 2019.
The man was taken into custody at a cooperative savings office following Phrae Provincial Court issuing a warrant for his arrest.
He was taken to Soongmen Police Station, where he denied all charges and refused to give any information before the case went to trial.
Astonishingly, his wife, the victim’s mother, has filed for her husband’s bail despite the seriousness of the charges against him.
The arrest warrant was issued following a complaint by the young girl’s biological father. He informed police that his daughter confided in him about the sexual abuse.
He told officials that he and his wife had separated in 2018, and his daughter lived with her mother, who later married the suspect and also lived in the house.
According to his complaint, his daughter had called him on June 5th, crying and saying that her step-father had raped her at home.
When the complaint was filed, the young girl told officials that the abuse had started in December of last year. She told police that the suspect had attempted to rape her several times before succeeding in January of this year.
She also informed the police that she had tried to get help from other relatives. Since they did not believe her, she eventually contacted her father about the abuse.
The suspect is being held for interrogation at Soongmen Police Station. Despite his wife’s petition, it is unlikely that the court will grant bail due to the severity of the accusations.
