
A Russian national has been arrested in Phuket after it was revealed he had been scamming his compatriots by selling fake tour packages, costing the company he worked for over 100,000 baht.
Mr. Leonid Iuraovskii was arrested by police at a condominium building in Patong on Wednesday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Phuket Provincial Court on June 5th.
The warrant stated that the 25-year-old was wanted in relation to forgery, use of false documents, and embezzlement.
His employer, Royal Palace Tours, has filed a complaint with the police in Patong.
They accused Mr. Iuraovskii of selling tour packages to other Russian nationals and then issuing fake vouchers once he had received payment.
The false documents were allegedly handmade by the suspect and have cost the tour company approximately 104,500 baht in damages.
Mr. Iuraovskii will be charged on multiple offenses, including theft of property belonging to his employer, creation, and use of counterfeit documents, and embezzlement.
