For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic hit Thailand, the number of recovered patients exceeds the number of patients in the hospitals.
According to the latest figures released by the Thai Government, a total of 1,288 people have recovered from the virus with 70 new recoveries recorded today. Meanwhile, 1,251 people remain hospitalized with the infection.
There were 28 new covid-19 cases reported today, taking the total number of cases up to 2,579. The figure represents a sixth-straight day of new case number declines, down from yesterday’s figure of 33 new cases.
The majority of new cases have come from people who were previously in contact with a known coronavirus patient. 18 of 28 cases are in this category with the government warning people about social distancing at home.
The remaining cases are one Thai person who recently returned to the country, one person who had been in a crowded place, three medical personnel, two people with at-risk professions, and three people in state quarantine.
There were also two new deaths announced, taking the total number of deaths up to 40. They were a 56-year-old Thai man with a history of contact with existing patients and a 43-year-old man with previous medical conditions.
