There were three new coronavirus cases reported in Thailand today, Sunday, May 17th, taking the total number of infections up to 3,028 since the pandemic began.
The new cases were all recent returnees from abroad who are being kept in state quarantine. All three are young male students, announced the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration spokesperson, Taweesilp Visanuyothin.
Two of the new cases recently returned from Egypt while the other recently returned from Pakistan on repatriation flights.
There were no new deaths reported again today, making it eight days since the last coronavirus-related death was reported by the Thai Government.
One more person was released from the hospital, taking the total number of virus recoveries up to 2,856 or 96.32 percent. Only 116 patients remain in hospitals.
Phuket also reached 16 days in a row without a new covid-19 infection today and has allowed some businesses to reopen. However, the airport will remain closed until further notice.
