Today, Thailand officially announced three new coronavirus cases, the same as yesterday, taking the total number of cases up to 3,031. There were no new deaths reported today.
The new cases were discovered in Nonthaburi (2) and Phuket (1). The Phuket case led Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, to warn people who had recently left Phuket to isolate themselves for 14 days.
There have been 12 confirmed cases in provinces around the country that have come from people who recently spent time in Phuket, leading Dr. Visanuyothin to bring up the province in his daily briefing, saying:
“If Phuket province continues to take good care of the situation, the number of patients linked to Phuket will fall.”
The number of new coronavirus cases has been consistently low over the past few weeks, however, due to the low rate of testing in Thailand the true figure could be significantly higher.
Therefore people should maintain proper hygienic routines and maintain social distancing when outside of their homes.
One more patient recovered over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries up to 2,857.
