In the wake of chaotic scenes in supermarkets around the country following the lifting of the ban on alcohol sales, Tesco Lotus has introduced new measures for customers purchasing alcoholic beverages.
The retail giant has ordered all outlets to reorganize shelves containing alcohol into one single isle which will be monitored by staff.
The alcohol aisle in Lotus supermarkets will have one entrance and one exit with staff providing access to only five customers at a time.
Customers will also have to maintain a distance of at least one meter while browsing the alcohol section.
Meanwhile, Phetchaburi province has lifted the local ban on alcohol sales beginning from tomorrow, May 7th, as the governor announced an easing of restrictions in the region.
Following the announcement, only four provinces – Pathum Thani, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Phanom, and Buriram – have continued with the ban on alcohol sales.
