Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, today announced that the Thai Government will extend the state of emergency by one or two months depending on how the coronavirus situation develops.
The state of emergency began on March 26th and is currently in place to end on April 30th.
However, the Prime Minister stated that the government is reviewing the situation week by week and it is highly unlikely they will lift the emergency decree any time soon.
In his address, he also mentioned that some rules could be relaxed if the situation improves, but state agencies will have the authority to tighten rules in provinces that show no improvement.
Phuket is already in complete lockdown, while Nonthaburi this morning introduced new measures which will see all shops close between 11 pm and 5 am.
