The Thai Government’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration announced 19 new coronavirus cases and one death today, a reduction of eight from yesterday’s 27 new cases.
The single death is the first reported in four days and takes the total number of deaths up to 48 while the total number of coronavirus cases is now 2,811.
The death was a 50-year-old taxi driver who had transported people from the boxing stadium cluster. The man had previous medical conditions and was a heavy smoker.
He had been admitted to hospital on March 23rd after first complaining of a fever and cough on March 18th before being sent home with medication. He passed away on Monday night.
Of the 19 new cases, 10 people were in close contact with known infected patients, two had visited crowded areas, one worked closely with others, one attended a religious ceremony, and one recently returned from the United States.
The remaining cases are still under investigation.
There have also been 109 new patient recoveries over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients up to 2,108.
There are now 36 provinces in Thailand that have not reported a single new case in the past 14 days.
