Police arrest 23 people for trespassing on Pattaya beach

Police in Chonburi has arrested 23 people who were trespassing on Pattaya beach on Tuesday morning.

Pattaya is currently in lockdown with an order related to the state of emergency declaring that public places such as the beach are closed until the ban is lifted later this week.

However, many people have decided to ignore the rules currently in place and take to the beach for exercising, relaxing, and even playing in the water.

The police reported that there were 12 Thai citizens and 11 foreigners among the people arrested this morning. They were arrested for activities that may lead to the spread of coronavirus.

All 23 people were taken to Pattaya police station and charged with violating the emergency decree.

They will now face a fine of up to 100,000 baht and/or up to one year in jail.
