The sub-district lockdown was brought into effect on April 13th and banned travel between each district with exceptions for medical personnel, emergency workers, and logistics vehicles.
The move was made in an attempt to slow down the spread of coronavirus in Phuket as it is the second-highest infected province in the country after Bangkok.
However, now the ban on traveling between sub-districts has been lifted, with the following exceptions which will remain under full lockdown:
- Patong – Bangla Road
- Cherng Talay – Bang Tao Moo Baan 2, 3 & 5
- Koh Kaew – Moo Baan Prachsamakhee, in Moo 2
- Rassada – Moo 2, Soi Bang Chee Lao
- Chao Fa Garden Village in Wichit
The first three areas will have checkpoints on the roads both for incoming and outgoing traffic with protective screening and strict measures in place to prevent residents from leaving their homes.
The last two areas will not have checkpoints but will have protective screening and strict measures to prevent residents from leaving their homes.
The announcement requested that residents on the island still follow the public health guidelines including wearing a mask in public and maintaining good personal hygiene.
The order also mentioned that social distancing measures will remain in place.
