Two of Pakistan’s top volleyball players are stranded in Thailand due to the unavailability of flights amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The players, Aimal Khan and Mohammad Waseem, both play in the Thailand Volleyball League for Nakhon Ratchasima Mall Volleyball Club and Air Force, respectively.
Khan, who received treatment for a throat infection on Wednesday, said he has been trying to get back to Pakistan without any luck. He said:
“Everything here has been closed for the last 25 days because of the coronavirus issue. I am staying at a hotel. I contacted the Pakistan embassy in Thailand for a flight. I heard that the other day a flight left for Pakistan but I don’t know why I was not informed by the embassy.”
The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) have said they will contact the Pakistan embassy in Thailand to try and arrange for a flight home for both players.
