Today one of the lowest figures in months was announced as only six new coronavirus cases were reported by the Center for Covid-19 Administration. There were also no new deaths.
As always, it is worth pointing out that Thailand has one of the lowest virus testing rates in the world, and as such the true figures are probably much higher than what is announced.
Of the new cases, one was in Bangkok and the other five were in Yala. The Bangkok case occurred after an elderly man had visited a market and contracted the virus.
A further 32 people recovered from the infection and were sent home leaving the number of covid-19 patients in hospitals under 200 with patient recovery standing at 91.86 percent.
However, as people travel to their home provinces over the long weekend and with hundreds of Thai citizens expected to be repatriated over the coming days, the government warned people not to become too confident.
Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin asked people to wear face masks, wash their hands, and practice social distancing.
He also requested that people take care of those at risk of depression and suicide after a spate of occurrences over the past weeks.
