The Governor of Nonthaburi, Sujin Chaichumsak, has approved a curfew in the area effective immediately to help fight the ongoing coronavirus situation.
The announcement requests citizens in the area not to leave their home between 11 pm and 5 am until further notice.
It rapidly follows an earlier announcement that all stores will close between 11 pm and 5 am in the province.
The only exception to the new curfew is for vehicles transporting goods, those who must work during the curfew hours, or people who need to leave their homes for an urgent emergency.
The announcement mentioned that the number of covid-19 cases is rapidly rising in the region and warned that if the trend continues, Nonthaburi does not have enough hospital space to deal with the number of infected cases.
However, while dramatic action has been taken in the province, Bangkok currently has no intention of adding similar restrictions.
