No new covid-19 deaths in Thailand for the second day in a row

Thailand officially recorded no new deaths for the second day in a row on Sunday. There were 32 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 141 new recoveries.

The new cases were mostly recorded in Bangkok where there were 24 new covid-19 patients.

The total number of coronavirus cases now stands at 2,765, while the total number of deaths remains at 47.

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration warned that people between the ages of 20 and 39 are most at risk of contracting the virus.

This age group accounts for 1,334, almost half, of all confirmed virus infections. The majority of positive patients in the age group are in Bangkok, Phuket, and Nonthaburi.

There is much debate about whether the official figures are an accurate reflection of the true number of people carrying coronavirus.

A study from the United States indicated that up to 85 times more people could have covid-19 than is being reported in official figures while Thailand has one of the lowest test rates per 1,000 people in the world.
